Today, it's all about what we are thankful for. No surprise, right? It's kind of a cliché at this point in the season. November hits, and every wants to know what you are thankful for. And there's the same list everyone gives out.
It starts with friends and family. It can also include your job, your pets, your home, and the food you're about to eat. It's the same list every year. It's the same answer every year.
Do you even mean it anymore? Like, seriously though. Sit there and think about this for a minute. Do you actually mean what you are saying or are you just going through the motions? Are you listening to what you are saying or are you just spitting out word vomit?
I know I've been guilty of spitting out the same mumbo-jumbo the past few years. And I have meant it, but I've still just been going through the motions.
I am thankful for my kids, my husband, my family, my friends near and far, my dogs, that I'm able to be a stay-at-home mom, and more. But, I need to do more than just say it. I need to act on it.
I'm thankful for my husband, so I want to cook him his favorite meal to show him.
I'm thankful for my kids, so Chase gets an extra cookie one afternoon.
I'm thankful for my friends, so I'll make time to call them.
I'm thankful for my dogs, so I'll take them to the dog park one afternoon.
I'm thankful for my family, so I'll bake them something and mail it to them.
We have to start remembering that words only go so far. You can say the same thing year after year, but until you start using actions along with those words, they won't have the same impact. Let me use another cliché, shall I? Actions speak louder than words.
