Couponing has left me with a pretty cool opportunity. I realized that I had a surplus of some basic necessities. Toothpaste, a few toothbrushes, deodorant, and a ton of small packages of pads. So, after talking with Kyle about it, I decided to make care packages, to-go style.
They aren't in pretty packages and they aren't anything super special. But I've made one geared toward guys and one for women. They've both got the following inside them.
forks and spoons
The packages for women also include pads, lotion, and face wash.
The goal is simple. When we are out and about, if we see someone in need, or pan handling at a light, instead of giving them money, giving them the care package. It's got a bit of food, but also some just basic essentials to get them going. Some stuff to make them feel normal, even if for a bit.
I know I'm so thankful for everything I have. My family and I are going through some very hard times right now, but we are still together and we still have a lot when I think about it. And this is how I want to pay it forward.
For next month, I'm going to put together fleece blankets and hand those out as well. It's something I can do to help others out. Especially when, with the help of couponing, I have so much.
So as you are going about your day this season, try to find a way to help out something less fortunate than you. Even I you think it's tiny and insignificant, it's really not. To the person you help, it means the entire world to them. And every little bit helps.
