Whenever we have a party or any get together here at the house, I almost ALWAYS make at least one dish or snack. I've made party platters, mini roll-up pizzas, and BBQ. While I always like to have food on hand for gatherings, I try to keep it simple too. I don't want to spend the whole night in the kitchen fixing food and snacks. I want to be where the party is!
For Chase's birthday party, we are doing finger foods. Because it's in the afternoon (4pm-6pm), we aren't doing a meal. Just some light snacks to keep the kids (and me!) happy during the party. Because Chase is still so young, I wanted his party to be more of a play date than a real party. The kids can get dirty and play in the pool while us grown ups just sit and relax for a few hours.
Besides the cake, which let's face it, is the reason people show up, here's my quick and easy menu plan for the party.
Chocolate Dipped Pretzel Sticks
Cheese Ball Poofs
Cheese and Crackers
PB&J Mini Sandwiches
Pigs in a Blanket
For drinks, I'll be serving Iced Tea, Lemonade, and Water.
I'm pretty excited for this. Short, sweet, but will keep everyone happy and full during the party. And all of it the kids will be able to just grab and go! It's also stuff I can make a day or two in advance so I'm not running around the day of the party. It's a win-win!
When I start working on the food, I'll be sure to post recipes and pictures of all the yumminess!
